Sheffield Town Trust is one of the oldest charitable organisations in the country having originally been established in 1297. It is a registered charity that supports around 140 groups, organisations, and charities every year. 
 
The Trust has thirteen Trustees headed by the Town Collector, the historical name for its Chairman, with the administration being overseen by the Law Clerk.  Income from the Trust’s capital investments in property and the stock market is distributed in accordance with the charitable objects, being charitable and public uses in the City of Sheffield.
