Recruitment of New Trustees

We are looking for Trustees with a legal or medical background to join our friendly and engaged Board of Trustees.  The Sheffield Town Trust is one of the oldest charitable organisations in the country having originally been established in 1297. It is a registered charity that supports around 140 groups, organisations, and charities every year.

Who we are

The Trust has thirteen Trustees headed by the Town Collector, the historical name for its Chair, with the administration being overseen by the Law Clerk.  Income from the Trust’s capital investments in property and the stock market is distributed in accordance with the charitable objects, being charitable and public uses in the City of Sheffield. The Role

You will be required to attend four Trustee meetings a year.  Your time will be needed to assess 2 to 3 applications in advance of each meeting which will require a short-written report on your recommendations.  We encourage Trustees to visit applicant’s premises when relevant to inform their views on the suitability for the awarding of a grant.  The Trust would be particularly interested in receiving applications from individuals with a medical or legal background. The Recruitment Process

Applications received by the closing date and time will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the Trust chaired by the Town Collector.  Candidates will be informed if their application has been shortlisted.  Trustees anticipate that Shortlisted Candidates will be invited to attend a 30-minute interview which are scheduled for week commencing the 16th October 2023. The interviews will take place at Knights Professional Services Limited, 1 St Pauls Place, 121 Norfolk Street, Sheffield. S1 2JF

Appointment

Recommendations for any appointments will be made to the main board of the Trust on XXXXXXXXXXXXX at 10.30 am.
